IBA Scholarship Fund
The International Bar Association (IBA) offers two (2) scholarships to participating teams yearly.
The selection for the 2023 IBA Scholarship is closed, and the teams have been selected.
The scholarship covers the participation fee in the Competition, flight tickets for 5 members and accommodation in a shared apartment for 5 members. Other costs (such as visa costs, travel insurance, and per diem) might be covered as well, provided that the budget allows for it. In order to receive the scholarship, the following criteria needs to be fulfilled:
- The team is from a low-income/lower-middle-income country as defined by World Bank List of Economies;
- The university has never been represented in previous IBA ICC Moot Court Competitions;
- The team includes at least one female speaker;
- The team must provide a short motivation (one page) letter providing the reasons the team would like to participate in the competition, the impact it will have on their future development, and how they will use the opportunity to promote the principles of the competition to their university peers – evidence of activities will be required;
- Explanation of financial situation of the team (one page), including: economic description of the country, financial situation of the university, purchase power of national currency, other possibilities of funding explored. The one-page explanation must be included in the motivation letter!
- The team has the full support of the university to participate in the Competition, and the university provides a letter of commitment to participate in the Competition signed by the Dean/Head of Department (If the team cancels their participation and does not travel to The Hague all costs will be invoiced to the university);
- The team must submit a registration form before submitting a scholarship application.
Fee waivers
Ms. Carolyn Edgerton, Associate Member – Guernica 37, in her personal capacity, is sponsoring the participation fee of two (2) teams in order to enable their participation in the 2023 IBA ICCMCC.
The selection for the 2023 Edgerton fee waiver is closed, and the teams have been selected.
The fee waiver only covers the fee to participate in the Competition. All other costs (i.e., flight tickets, accommodation, visa costs, travel insurance) are to be covered by the team themselves. Receiving a fee waiver does not hinder the team’s ability to apply for further/alternative funding.
In order to receive a fee waiver, the following criteria needs to be fulfilled:
- The team is from a low-income/lower-middle-income country as defined by World Bank List of Economies;
- The team includes at least one female speaker;
- The team must provide a short motivation (one page) letter providing the reasons the team would like to participate in the competition, the impact it will have on their future development, and how they will use the opportunity to promote the principles of the competition to their university peers;
- Explanation of financial situation of the team (one page), including: economic description of the country, financial situation of the university, purchase power of national currency, other possibilities of funding explored. The one-page explanation must be included in the motivation letter!
- Financial plan covering other costs resulting from their participation in the Competition (i.e., how the flights/accommodation will be paid for; any funding from the university available; team sponsors);
- The team must submit a registration form before submitting a scholarship application.
